California State Bar
Created by the state legislature in 1927, the State Bar is a public corporation within the judicial branch of government, serving as an arm of the California Supreme Court. All State Bar members are officers of the court. Membership in The State Bar of California affords attorneys the right and privilege of practicing law in this state. The bar’s integrated network of functions and services — many of them mandated by law — protects the public and assists attorneys in meeting their professional obligations.

United States District Court — Northern District of California
The United States District Court for the Northern District of California was established on Setpember 28, 1850, less than three weeks after California became a state on September 9, 1850. Today, the boundaries of the Northern District of California include fifteen counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, Marin, Mendocino, Monterey, Napa, San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, and Sonoma. The court has four courthouses (in San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose and Eureka), fourteen district judgeships (also known as Article III judgeships) and twelve magistrate judgeships.
California Applicants’ Attorneys Association
Established in 1966, The California Applicants’ Attorneys Association is dedicated to helping Californians that get hurt on the job heal and get back to work. The CAAA is a Teamsters’ affiliate, representing 25,000 union members each year. The three areas of advocacy that the CAAA engages in are legal, policy, and educational.
University of the Pacific

UC Hasting College of the Law
Located in the heart of San Francisco, UC Hastings, founded in 1878, was the first UC law school and the first law school in the state of California. After the end of World War II, UC Hastings became known for it “Sixty-Five Club”, a group of eminent scholars and jurists who provided Hastings with one of the most distinguished faculties of any American law school. Today, UC Hastings’ faculty is comprised of a diverse and exciting group of outstanding teachers and nationally acclaimed scholars who range in experience from entry level professors to distinguished senior professors.
