Kim Steven LaValley has been involved in the legal profession since he was very young. Over his more than 40 years as a practicing attorney, Kim has developed an excellent understanding of “how things work,” as well as a strong belief in how things should work.
Kim grew up in a “legal family” where discussions of legal concepts and ethics were dinner table conversation. The LaValley family has always had a deep commitment to service. Kim has developed a passion for helping those unable to defend themselves against the system.
As a university student, Kim opened and operated a legal services business to put himself through college at the University of the Pacific. While in Law School at Hastings College of the Law, Kim clerked for prestigious law firms in San Francisco and the Central Valley. In Kim’s early years as an attorney, he worked as a Public Defender in Humboldt County, California.
Following his work as a Public Defender, Kim opened his own private law office, focusing for most of his 40 plus years on Workers’ Compensation law and Social Security Disability law. In addition to his years of legal experience, Kim also had had many years of management and human resource experience in the private business sector.
Married for 38 plus years, Kim and his wife raised 4 children. For many years he has participated in local and national community service organizations.
